Built Around the Way You Fish
There isn’t one perfect inshore rod.
A rod primarily used for throwing light jigs and soft plastics may call for a different blank and guide train than one used for popping corks, hard baits or heavier presentations.
That’s where a custom build earns its keep.
We’ll consider things such as:

- Lure and rig weights
- Preferred rod length
- Power and action
- Spinning or casting configuration
- Line and leader choices
- Typical fishing conditions
- Boat, kayak, pier or bank use
Then we’ll choose the blank and components around the job the rod actually needs to perform.

A good inshore rod should be comfortable enough to cast all day.
Unnecessary weight works against sensitivity, balance and fatigue, so every component should have a reason for being there. Blank selection, guide choice and placement, reel seat and handle design all contribute to how the finished rod feels and performs.
But light doesn’t mean fragile.
When a good redfish turns sideways, heads for structure or decides to make another run, the rod still needs the power and control to handle the situation.
Finding that balance is part of building the right rod.

We’ll help you select a quality blank, guides, reel seat and handle materials appropriate for your fishing and your budget. Saltwater exposure, corrosion resistance, durability, weight and performance all factor into those decisions.
If spending more will provide a meaningful improvement, we’ll explain why.

Built One at a Time
Every Goose Creek custom rod is individually assembled and finished in our Indian Trail, North Carolina shop.
Components are fitted carefully. Guide placement is laid out for the blank and application. Guide feet are prepared before wrapping. Each guide is hand wrapped, and finish is applied in controlled steps before the completed rod receives its final inspection.
There isn’t an assembly line behind the shop.
There’s one craftsman and one rod at a time.

Performance comes first—but there’s no reason a hardworking fishing rod can’t look good doing its job.
Thread colors, decorative wraps, handle materials and other finishing details allow us to give your rod anything from a clean, traditional appearance to something unmistakably your own.
We can build around a favorite color combination, coordinate the rod with a particular reel or simply keep things understated and classic.
