*Budget Reels: Reels manufactured specifically for a combo and not to be sold separately or reels carrying a new retail value of $60 or less.

**Spincast Reels: Zebco-type reels. Parts are hard to come by and it is just not cost-effective to service this type of reel.

**”Bag Reels: Reels that customers have tried to repair themselves, was unsuccessful, and ended up throwing everything into a bag to bring to us for repair or reassembly.

***Daiwa Reels with “Magseal”. We will service the reel but will not break into the Magseal area. To service this, you’ll have to ship it to Daiwa.

Fishing reels can be very complex depending on the make and model. Professional reel cleaning and yearly maintenance are highly recommended. Fishing reels should be disassembled, cleaned, and lubed every year. Regular cleaning and maintenance can extend the life of your fishing reel and bring it back to top performance.

All reels are completely disassembled, down to the smallest washer. Nothing is left intact. Metal parts go into an ultrasonic cleaner and all other parts are scrubbed by hand. Bearings are completely disassembled (shields removed), flushed out, degreased, placed in the ultrasonic cleaner, and tested on a bearing checker. Metal drag washers, pinion gear, main gears, and main drive shaft are cleaned, and all corrosion removed. Drag washers scrubbed, degreased and a touch of Cal’s Drag Grease added. If needed, or requested, factory bearings are replaced with new high-speed bearings and drag washers upgraded to Carbontex drag washers. The cost is only for upgraded parts and shipping.

READ THIS!

Some reels, especially saltwater and older vintage reels can contain a good amount of corrosion causing parts and screws/bolts to weaken and break. If parts break or screws and bolts shear off while servicing the equipment, Goose Creek Rods is not responsible. We will try to repair the issue, replace the part, tap out the screw, etc., but it will be at customer’s cost for time and parts needed.

NOTE:

February – October are our busiest months. The wait times are greater during these months. Our recommendation for general, yearly cleaning is to drop off your reels after your last fall fishing trip, preferably late October through January. The exception is if you have an emergency, such as a critical reel that needs immediate repair. We can usually make allowances for these, although a rush fee of $10 per reel may be accessed.

VINTAGE REELS

Vintage reels were built to last. Chances are good that your old heirloom reels are still solid. Get them professionally tuned up and give them another fishing trip. They deserve it. Those great old classics are an absolute blast to fish with!
