REEL SERVICE & MAINTENANCE
At Goose Creek Rods, every reel is carefully evaluated before service. Not all reels require a full teardown, and our goal is to provide the most appropriate and cost-effective level of service while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship. The following is for SALTWATER REELS ONLY. We do not service freshwater reels.
Standard Maintenance Service per reel (plus parts if needed)
Recommended for routine maintenance, “clean and service” requests, and reels that are mechanically sound but require cleaning, lubrication, and performance tuning. Does not require a complete disassembly.
- Saltwater Spinning (Penn, Shimano, Daiwa) – $35 – $45
- Mid-Size Conventional Reel (TLD, Fathom, Squall, Avet, Daiwa Saltist, etc.) – $50 – $55
Full Overhaul Service per reel (plus parts if needed)
Complete disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning, full lubrication, reassembly, and testing. Recommended for heavily used, corroded, or mechanically compromised reels.
- Saltwater Spinning (Penn, Shimano, Daiwa) – $50 – $55
- Mid-Size Conventional Reel (TLD, Fathom, Squall, Avet, Daiwa Saltist, etc.) –$60 – $65
- Large Trolling Reels (Tiagra, International, big game reels) – $75 – $85
MAJOR Corrosion Cleanup – +20 – $40
Service Evaluation Policy
All reels are professionally evaluated upon intake to determine the appropriate level of service. In many cases, reels only require standard maintenance rather than a full overhaul.
Evaluation is included with all completed services.
For reels evaluated but not serviced, a small bench evaluation fee may apply to cover diagnostic time.
Note: Multi-reel trip preparation services are evaluated individually to determine the appropriate level of service for each reel.
*Reel service slots are limited each week due to restoration and custom rod workload.

ROD REPAIR – GUIDE & TIP SERVICE
(Hand-Wrapped & Epoxy Finished)
Single Foot Guide Replacement: $12 per guide (labor)
Double Foot Guide Replacement: $15 per guide (labor)
3+ Guides: $2 off per guide.
Includes professional thread wrapping and multiple coats of epoxy finish for durability and long-term performance.
Trim Bands: +$2 per guide
Underwraps: +$3 per guide
(Matched to existing guide style when possible)
Rod Tip Replacement: $15
(Includes most common in-stock tips. Specialty or heavy-duty tips priced based on component cost.)
All guide repairs are hand-wrapped and finished with multiple epoxy coats to ensure strength, durability, and a factory-quality appearance.
Vintage & Sentimental Restorations – Quoted Individually
Specialized restoration work performed with a craftsmanship-focused approach for reels of personal or historical value.
Minimum Bench Service Charge
A $25 minimum bench service charge applies to all repairs.
This covers evaluation, intake, and basic service time to ensure each piece of equipment receives proper attention and professional workmanship.
Completed Repair Pickup Policy
Customers will be notified when service is complete.
We kindly ask that completed rods and reels be picked up within 14 days of notification due to limited shop space.
Items not picked up within 30 days may be subject to storage fees.
PAYMENT TERMS
- Custom Rods: All components must be paid for up-front, before ordering. The remaining balance plus any additional charges are due upon delivery.
- Vintage Restorations: All restorations must be paid up-front before any work begins. If there are unforeseen additional costs, they will be billed upon completion before delivery.
- Zelle is preferred for out-of-state customers. Cash is preferred for local customers. We do accept Checks (Checks have to clear before item is returned), Debit/Credit cards, PayPal and Venmo. (A Service Charge is added for credit card, PayPal and Venmo payments).
